Motor Museum of Western Australia named finalist in the 2026 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards

The Motor Museum of Western Australia is proud to have been named a finalist in the 2026 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards for Business Excellence.

This is the first time the Motor Museum has entered these awards, making the finalist recognition a particularly meaningful milestone. It follows a standout 2025/26, with the Motor Museum continuing to share Western Australia’s rich motoring history with visitors from across the State and beyond.

Finalists and medallists in each category will be announced at the 2026 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards Gala Dinner, to be held at Crown Perth on Thursday 26 November 2026.

Peter Brock Month

In September, the Motor Museum of Western Australia celebrated the life and legacy of Peter Brock, marking 20 years since the legendary Australian racing driver’s tragic death while competing in the Targa West Rally at Gidgegannup.

To commemorate Brock’s life and achievements, the Motor Museum created a special banner and displayed three Peter Brock replicas, along with the Birrana Formula 2 car he raced.

WesCarpade Reaches the Finish Line

On Saturday 12 September, the Motor Museum of Western Australia welcomed the WesCarpade – Camp Quality car rally as it reached the finish line of its journey through the South West.

The rally began in Bunbury on Friday 4 September and travelled for eight days through Manjimup, Augusta, Walpole, Albany, Katanning and Pinjarra before finishing at the Motor Museum of Western Australia. More than 80 people connected with Camp Quality, including families supported by the organisation, lined the street to eagerly await the arrival of the vehicles and their drivers, known as “Weskies”. Over 20 cars driven by the “Weskies” were then displayed in the M-Shelter area, where members of the public were invited to view the vehicles up close.

A special thank you goes to volunteers Nick Rykers, Kel Watkins, Graham Robson, Ken Devine, Pat Scanlon and Dave Smith, who generously assisted with the barbecue and helped manage the increased visitor numbers.

Motor Museum Accessible Virtual Tour

The Motor Museum of Western Australia has recently engaged with a virtual tour company to produce an accessible virtual tour that can be found on our website.

Designed to help visitors prepare for their visit, the tour offers a preview of key spaces, displays and facilities throughout the Motor Museum. It can be especially helpful for people with disability, sensory sensitivities or mobility requirements, as well as families, carers and anyone who simply prefers to know what to expect before arriving.

Destination WA Visits the Motor Museum of Western Australia

Nikki from Destination WA recently visited the Motor Museum of Western Australia and explored the wide range of motoring history from Perth and around the world.

From beautifully preserved classics and distinctive Australian vehicles to motorcycles, motoring memorabilia and significant racing history, the segment explores the many stories that make up more than a century of motoring in Western Australia.

The feature also highlights several standout vehicles in our collection, including the Formula 1 car raced by Perth-born driver Daniel Ricciardo during his successful period with Red Bull Racing. It is a remarkable piece of local sporting history and a must-see for motorsport fans.

Watch the Destination WA feature for a closer look at the Museum, its collection and some of the people behind it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0ZJwSnLvHQ
