What to Expect
The Motor Museum of Western Australia is a feast for the eyes, with an impressive collection of Western Australian motoring history that spans two halls and a 4,000 square metre area. There are over 200 vehicles on display, including 140 cars and 70 motorcycles as well as over 15,000 scale models (the largest collection of scale models on general display in the southern hemisphere) to enjoy.
You’ll find our earliest vehicle, an 1889 Star, and a wide range of vintage and historic vehicles up to the 1970s in Brockwell Hall. In Ricciardo Hall you’ll find vehicles from the 1970s right through to the present day (including muscle cars, race cars and classics), as well as our prized possession – Daniel Ricciardo’s 3 times Grand Prix winning 2014 Red Bull RB10 Formula One car.
We suggest you allow at least 1 – 2 hours to fully explore our displays, however if you’re a real motoring enthusiast, you may need to allow much longer as you meander your way through the museum – don’t say we didn’t warn you!
Check out our Displays for what’s on offer, or if you’re bringing the kids along, check out our Families page for our most popular kid’s experiences.
If you need a coffee break in between, there’s a café right next door. Let our front counter volunteers know if you wish to return that same day and they’ll give you a stamp to provide access back inside.
As you explore the museum, you’ll also enjoy a treasure trove of auto-memorabilia and garagenalia. This includes a historic 10 mile marker post that showed travellers that they were 10 miles or 16 kilometres from the Perth General Post Office (GPO) in the CBD. These marker posts were historically positioned on all major roads leading into Perth, and were used both for guidance and as a handy traveller meeting point.
The museum is also home to one of Western Australia’s earliest hand-painted map. This map stands at over two metres tall and was displayed in the WA Vacuum Oil Co Perth headquarters in 1937. The absence of roads in WA’s Pilbara region that was still yet to be opened up at this time is quite noticeable.

Guided Tours
If you would like one of our very knowledgeable volunteers to take you on a 45 minute guided tour of the museum, meet us at the front counter at either 11am or 2pm for our twice daily tour. If you’re visiting the museum at a different time of the day, you can also request a tour at the front counter and we will do our best to assist you, subject to volunteer availability.
Gift Shop
Our gift shop stocks an assortment of quality gifts and souvenirs. These include tin signs, magnets, scale models and toy cars that you can give to a loved one or keep for yourself!
Accessibility
All areas of the Motor Museum of Western Australia are fully accessible, with ACROD parking also within easy walking distance of the entry to the museum.
You can also show your companion card for free carer entry to the museum.
