Destination WA Visits the Motor Museum of Western Australia

Nikki from Destination WA recently visited the Motor Museum of Western Australia, and explored the wide range of motoring history from Perth and around the world.

From beautifully preserved classics and distinctive Australian vehicles to motorcycles, motoring memorabilia and significant racing history, the segment explores the many stories that make up more than a century of motoring in Western Australia.

Destination WA spoke with Museum Manager, Danny, about the Motor Museum’s continued evolution over more than three decades. As visitor interests change, the collection and displays continue to grow and develop, balancing much-loved vintage and classic vehicles with more modern cars that appeal to new generations of visitors.

The feature also highlights several standout vehicles in our collection, including the Formula 1 car raced by Perth-born driver Daniel Ricciardo during his successful period with Red Bull Racing. It is a remarkable piece of local sporting history and a must-see for motorsport fans.

Behind every vehicle is a dedicated team helping to share these stories. More than 80 volunteers work alongside the Museum’s staff to keep the collection moving forward, support changing displays and ensure Western Australia’s motoring history can be enjoyed by visitors of all ages.

Whether you are a lifelong motoring enthusiast, a motorsport fan, a family visiting Whiteman Park or simply curious about the vehicles that have shaped the way we travel, there is something to discover at the Motor Museum.
