Farewell to Volunteers – Ron Powell, John Roberts and Ruth Ireland
Volunteer Ron Powell has pulled up stakes as a volunteer after a remarkable 26 years with the Motor Museum.
Ron’s contribution to the Motor Museum over many years has been outstanding and memorable. One of the many jobs that Ron took on was the meticulous task of producing identification tags for our vast collection of scale models. In 2019 ill health resulted in Ron being unable able to volunteer at the Museum, but such was Ron’s dedication that he carried on working from home to help with the cataloguing of motoring publications for our library.
John Roberts has retired as a volunteer after 10 years.
John was a long-serving, dedicated and respected member of the Friday crew. Unfortunately John’s decision to leave us came about
because of some recent health issues. John is a keen Holden enthusiast having owned a 48-215 (FX) and FJ sedan. John is also a regular with the Chrome Bumper Coffee Group.
Ruth Ireland was another long serving volunteer who retired after seven years with us.
Ruth was a regular Thursday volunteer with a keen interest in motorcycles. Ruth took on custodian of Daniel Ricciardo’s Formula 1 RB 10 and was fastidious in making sure that the race car was always a clean and presentable exhibit. Ruth delighted in telling visitors about RB10 and Daniel’s story to fame; often taking pictures for visitors so they could take away a memory of the occasion.
