How to Make a Donation
As a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers, Motor Museum of Western Australia relies on the generosity of our community to preserve and showcase the state’s rich motoring heritage.
There are several ways you can help ensure future generations can enjoy and learn from our world-class collection.
Cultural Gift Scheme
You can donate significant items—such as historic vehicles, memorabilia, or automotive collections—under the Australian Government’s Cultural Gift Scheme. This program provides tax incentives for gifts of cultural value.
Many important items in our museum, including rare cars, motorcycles, and scale models, have been generously donated in this way.
If you wish to donate through the Cultural Gift Scheme, please contact us to discuss your potential gift.
We’ll guide you through the process and assess whether your item fits our collection criteria.
Monetary Donations
Financial gifts help us care for our collection, expand exhibitions, and run programs. As a registered charity, all donations over $2 are tax-deductible.
Donating Physical Objects
We welcome offers of:
- Cars and motorcycles
- Scale models
- Automotive memorabilia (badges, tools, signage, etc.)
- Motoring books and magazines
If you have an object you wish to gift, you can either:
- Contact us first to discuss your item by email or phone, which allows our team to assess its suitability for our collection.
- Drop in during opening hours (open daily 10am–4pm) to show your item in person. A team member will be happy to evaluate it and explain next steps.
Generally, we assess all proposed donations to ensure they align with the Museum’s collection goals and storage capacities.
Bequests and Planned Giving
Leave a lasting legacy by including Motor Museum of Western Australia in your will or estate planning.
Bequests and planned giving ensure your passion for motoring history lives on and supports future generations. Such gifts can be in the form of cash, shares, collections, or specific vehicles.
